Morocco has no trade agreement with India. It is a manufacturing base for Europe (cars, aerospace, garments) and a major phosphate and fertiliser producer that buys Indian chemicals and machinery. Tanger Med is one of the largest ports in Africa. French and Arabic are the main business languages.

What it buys from India

  • Organic and inorganic chemicals
  • Vehicles, auto parts and machinery
  • Cotton and synthetic yarn and fabrics
  • Medicines, spices and tea

Import rules on their side

  • Food and plant or animal products are checked by ONSSA (National Food Safety Office); labels must be in Arabic, with French commonly added.
  • Many industrial and consumer products are subject to conformity checks under the Ministry of Industry and Trade before release.
  • Customs is run by the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII); medicines need registration with Morocco's medicines agency.

Practical tips

  • French-language quotations and catalogues are expected by most buyers.
  • Morocco has trade agreements with the EU and others, so Indian goods often compete against duty-free European supply — price carefully.
  • Documentary credit or documentary collection through a Moroccan bank is common; take ECGC cover for credit sales.
