Togo has no trade agreement with India. Its port at Lomé is a regional transhipment and transit hub for Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali, so much of what Togolese importers buy moves on to neighbouring countries. Togo uses the West African CFA franc, which is pegged to the euro, and applies the ECOWAS common external tariff.

What it buys from India

  • Rice
  • Medicines
  • Motorcycles, vehicles and auto parts
  • Cotton fabrics, textiles and plastics

Import rules on their side

  • Customs is run by the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR); declarations are filed through the national single window.
  • Medicines need marketing authorisation from Togo's pharmacy directorate; food and plant products need sanitary and phytosanitary certificates.
  • Labels and documents are usually in French.

Practical tips

  • Ask whether the goods are for Togo or in transit to the Sahel — transit cargo needs different documents.
  • Take advance payment or a confirmed LC; check ECGC cover before giving credit.
  • Quote in USD or EUR; the CFA franc's euro peg makes EUR pricing familiar to buyers.
