Why it matters
Some goods need compulsory pre-shipment inspection by law. Many buyers and LCs also ask for an independent report to avoid quality disputes.
What goes on it
- Inspecting agency and report number
- Lot details, sampling method, test results
- Conclusion against the agreed specification
Avoid these mistakes
- Agree the specification and test method in the contract, not after shipment.
- Keep a sealed counter-sample of every lot for at least as long as a dispute can arise.
