Why it matters
It is the legal proof of export. Duty drawback, RoDTEP, IGST refund and the bank's export record (EDPMS) all key off the shipping bill number and date.
What goes on it
- IEC, GSTIN, AD code of your bank
- Port of loading, country of destination
- Invoice details, HS code, quantity, FOB value
- Scheme claimed (drawback, RoDTEP, advance authorisation, LUT/IGST)
- LEO date and customs officer's endorsement
Avoid these mistakes
- Register your AD code with customs at the port before the first shipment, or the shipping bill will not go through.
- Tick the right scheme box at filing. Benefits missed on the shipping bill are hard to claim later.
- Download the LEO copy from ICEGATE and keep it with the bank file.
