Air waybill (AWB)

- Contents
- Fresh green chilli, 10 kg cartons
- Issued by
- The airline or its cargo agent / forwarder
- Used in
- Exports and imports
Why it matters
The named consignee can collect the goods on arrival without any original. If you are not yet paid, make the buyer's bank the consignee or take advance.
What goes on it
- AWB number (airline prefix + serial)
- Shipper, consignee, airport of departure and destination
- Pieces, gross and chargeable weight
- Flight, handling information, charges
Avoid these mistakes
- Air freight is charged on the higher of actual and volume weight. Light bulky cartons cost more than you expect.
- Perishables need the airline's temperature and packing rules — ask the agent before packing.
